Institute for Foreclosure Legal Assistance Request for Proposals for AmeriCorps Recovery Fellowships

The Institute for Foreclosure Legal Assistance (IFLA) is now accepting proposals to fund eight Americorps Recovery Fellowships focused exclusively on foreclosure prevention.  The IFLA Americorps Fellowships are funded through by IFLA and through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. 

Goal of Funding: To increase legal capacity of organizations dedicated to representing individual homeowners faced with foreclosure and to build a national network of attorneys who work collaboratively to develop legal and community-based solutions to our nation's foreclosure crisis.  

Grant Period: 1 year

Eligibility: Non-profit organizations with demonstrated experience and ability in representing homeowners in foreclosure.

IFLA AmeriCorps Fellows receive compensation of at least $45,600 plus healthcare benefits, bar dues and an AmeriCorps education award of $4,725 for a 12 month term of service. IFLA and Equal Justice Works will provide grant funds for Fellows' living allowance and supplemental benefits. For each Fellow, grantee host sites will receive $28,500 from Equal Justice Works and $12,500 from IFLA, to be paid on a monthly cash reimbursement basis.  Applicants must provide at least $11,000 in match funding towards living allowance for each AmeriCorps Fellow they request.    

Additional Selection Criteria:  Organizations that demonstrate a compelling local need, but which have the infrastructure to save as many homes for as many families as possible.
